Conference week numbers...

5 days, 31 unique students, 31 blue folders, 31 report cards w/ 40 things to fill out per student, 31 student/parent compacts, 31 fluency reports, 31 incomplete/missing assignment reports, 31 journals to grade, 31 sets of papers to grade/input/file, 31 student conferences, 31 parent conferences scheduled, 3 no shows, 7 parents who were late and/or caused other conferences to go overtime, 20 minutes per conference, 5 EL inserts, 4 retention contracts, 2 GATE letters, 1 parent who cried and needed two long conferences (over an hour) to grasp the fact that her daughter has room for improvement... over 15 hours of talking with students/parents/guardians this week about student progress, and 1 teacher who is recovering after a long, exhausted week.

I asked one of your fifth graders to determine how many things you had to contend with over the last month. He did some number crunching for me and came back with 8 bajillion. Be home you soon- much love.
